Have you seen Cloverfield? Yes'm. Was a bit disappointed by it, I'll admit, but I loved the concept, which is why this game sounded like so much fun. XD
Are you applying for an Original Character? Nope.

[IC Information]
Character Name: Jacques (Codename: Real name unknown)
Series: Suikoden III
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Species: Human
Sexuality: Unknown. Has a relationship that could be interpreted as romantic with a girl in the Southern Defense Force, but I really think Jacques could go either way, depending on the person.

Appearance: Jacques looks… almost intimidating at first glance. The long blue jacket he wears makes him look quite a bit taller than he probably is, and his pale face and light blue eyes are very stern and serious-looking. The enormous crossbow he keeps strapped to his back probably helps, too.

He’s not a very expressive guy either. His sad face, his angry face, his happy face, and so forth are all pretty much the same, though those that really know him know the little quirks that give away his emotions. A light sag of the shoulders, a twitch of the eyebrow, his head cocking to the side ever-so-slightly… the tiniest gestures, things most people wouldn’t even notice, are the only ways Jacques really communicates. And when people are around him enough and start to notice them themselves, they’re able to see that he’s not quite as menacing and stony as his appearance implies.

Personality: Jacques is… quiet. Most of his dialogue in the game can be summed up with a simple “…” and he does tend to slip off into nowhere every now and then, escaping even his companions’ notice. He’s a reliable soldier, however, and he still always comes through for his fellow Southern Defense Force members when it’s necessary, even when they don’t realize it.

Jacques also has a lot of, um, rather unusual quirks. He drinks juice when the rest of the team is drinking hard liquor (perhaps a good thing, considering he has horrible tolerance to alcohol), likes playing with dogs and small children, and has been known to wander off just to enjoy the scenery. He has a very deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, and would gladly give up the comforts of a warm, safe inn to sleep alone in a nearby tree. Hence, it’s no surprise why people think he’s just a teensy bit strange.

Abilities: Jacques, having probably spent much of his life away from towns and villages and out in the wild, knows the fickleness of nature well, and knows how to deal with pretty much any condition of terrain or weather. He is, as one might expect, an excellent sniper and a skilled hunter, and seems to have some modest knowledge of mechanics (enough to keep up the repairs on his crossbow, at least)

Weaknesses: Jacques, uh, really doesn’t know how to handle people. He tries—he really tries—especially when it’s someone particularly important to him, and when it’s necessary, he’s usually successful. He’s also very modest, almost to a fault, to the point where he’ll blatantly lie rather than take credit for helping people (for example, during a military raid on the village his troop was staying at, he helped two other SDF members escape enemy soldiers by firing at their attackers from the shadows, which gave them enough of a distraction to retreat. He later insisted he was out hunting rabbits at the time, and missed the raid completely)

Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider

History: Jacques’s past is mostly unknown. In fact, we know absolutely nothing about him before he was recruited into the Southern Defense Force. Allegedly, the group was passing through the mountains on a mission when they encountered a monster, which Jacques—who had been nearby at the time—helped them defeat by sniping at it from the trees with his crossbow. Their leader, Geddoe, took interest in his talents, and offered to let him join on the spot. From what we can tell, this takes place very recently before the game starts (Jacques’s official paperwork hadn’t even been delivered to headquarters yet).

In time, however, war breaks out between Harmonia and the already-warring nations of Grasslands and Zexen. Geddoe decides to turn his back on Harmonia and unite the two countries against their common enemy, and Jacques followed behind him, along with the rest of the SDF. He stays until the war is won, and then takes a short leave of absence to work on a modified version of his crossbow. This is the last we hear from him in the Suikoden continuity.
